My strategy for this blog has always been to avoid having one. The three people who read it semi-regularly have long-since figured out that I tend to write a poem, ride that creative burst for another couple of days, then get drunk and sort of wander off for a month or so.
Which isn’t to say I haven’t been busy. (more…)

Welcome to my room,
my sick, sad little world
no excuses… just a failure.
wish you were here, beneath the balcony.
Only in dreams, darkness, eternity
dead sound can fly
Can splinter off, spread miles apart
to anywhere i lay my head
a head with wings
a head-on collision
with cool blue reason
Just my imagination.

i wanna be
the ghost of the river.
lopsided helicopters
hover above me,
the floating boy
in the great salt lake
rippling the sunset’s reflection.
Someday the waves
will crash under my umbrella
a flood. only one. no rain.
The ocean’s a lullaby
sleep, like swimming
feet of granite
pull me under.
Lullaby. Opiate.

I stayed up all night alongside the editorial crew of CollegeHumor, “studying” and having as much fun as a webcam and live chat will allow. To commemorate the event, I wrote this article detailing all the things I’ll forever take away from the epic 12-hour fun-fest.
Now excuse me while I pass the fuck out.
